The NZSE Emerging Researcher Award recognises research and/or clinical excellence by an active member of the NZSE early in their career (within 6 years of having obtained a higher degree or diploma i.e. PhD, MD, FRACP). This year the inaugural award was won by Dr Kristina Smiley, University of Otago (pictured receiving the award from NZSE management committee member Greg Anderson). The award comes with a $1000 cash prize. Dr Smiley’s award lecture, presented at the MedSci meeting in Queenstown, was titled “Identifying a novel role for prolactin in the transition to paternal care”.
